The decision by ANZCO Foods to upgrade its rendering process at the Canterbury plant saw the leading meat processor appoint Napier Engineering & Contracting to provide engineering expertise.
The project required Napier Engineering to install the heavy duty and high performance TST100 80 tonne Drier that was central to the process.
But first the drier had to be dis-mantled, removed from its existing home at a Hawera factory in the North Island and transported to Auckland by heavy haulage experts Tranzcar, where it was sent by sea to Timaru and then by road to ANZCO Foods at Ashburton for re-installation.
“This is their expertise,” notes ANZCO’s Rendering Manager John Corcoran (pictured with drier). “These are the type of projects they deliver for us – and they have all turned out well.” ANZCO Foods is New Zealand’s fifth largest exporter of prime New Zealand beef and lamb, and also concentrates on high grade meat rendering.
This process eliminates waste and at the same time generates a series of value added product lines, especially in the areas of detergents and feed stocks. Napier Engineering is a specialist food processing machinery engineer in the medium-to-heavy capability range and which has its own meat processing equipment brand, the Niven standard range.
